The design of the Adirondack chairs was first created by Thomas Lee, back in 1900. There is a unique museum in Blue Mountain Lake, New York that is actually called the Adirondack Museum. The experts there say that the Adirondack chair was first known by the name of Westport chair, Westport being a small town that is located near the Adirondack Mountains. Thomas Lee began designing this chair by using only nails and standard boards and his main purpose was to build a chair that can be easily used both indoors and outdoors and that was also comfortable in the same time.
